When the going gets tough… Drive Fuze sponsor Deep Blue Crew
Endurance is at the heart of the World's Toughest Row™ challenge and Drive Fuze are delighted to become a sponsor for Deep Blue Crew as they set off in December.
The courageous team of four who make up the Deep Blue Crew will leave La Gomera and head, unsupported, across the Atlantic Ocean. In their attempt to win the World's Toughest Row™ challenge they are also attempting to raise as much as possible for three charities:
· Tusk Trust
· The Clocktower Foundation
· My Name’5 Doddie Foundation
The gruelling race will take its toll on the team and here’s some numbers to put it into perspective:
· A 3,000 mile race from La Gomera to Antigua
· Over 1.5 million strokes from each member of the crew
· Ocean waves of over 40 feet
· Rowing 2 hours on 2 hours off, 24 hours a day for up to 50 days
· More people have been into space or climbed Everest than rowed an ocean
· Average weight loss of over 15kg
One of the intrepid team is Jack Ogden. Having grown up in Kenya and spent much of his childhood out on the water, he says that it was clear from a young age that he had an innate sense of adventure.
“We’re delighted to welcome Drive Fuze as one of our key sponsors. Their support aids us in achieving our two primary goals; rowing across the Atlantic Ocean unsupported and in doing so, raising as much money as possible for our incredible charities. We would like to thank the whole Drive Fuze team for their continued support.”
Drive Fuze’s Chairman, Nick Rothwell said:
“The teamwork focus and hard determination to succeed by the Deep Blue Team in preparing for and taking on this challenge is truly inspiring. With all funds raised going to three worthy charities I am delighted that Drive Fuze are able to offer our support and wish Jack and the whole team all the very best for their preparation and in taking on the challenge. Good luck.”
The team are now in the middle of their training programme and will be holding events over the coming months to highlight the challenge and hopefully raise more money for their chosen charities. We’ll be posting regular updates on the team’s training and you can follow their progress at www.thedeepbluecrew.co.uk where you can also support them with a donation.
